8 Ways to Rock a T-Shirt

We all know the most commonly worn, and often understated, article of clothing: the t-shirt. We all have a few in our closest and I would be shocked if you said you didn’t. I have compiled some ideas and tips to help you wear those t-shirts in new ways.

Wear it as a blouse: Trick all of your friends into not realizing you are wearing a super basic t-shirt. All you need to do is tuck your shirt into the pants, skirt, or shorts, layer on some necklaces or a blazer, and pair with some heels or boot. Now you look amazing and stylish!

Use a t-shirt to dress down an outfit: A t-shirt is the perfect way to tone down your fancy pieces. If you want to wear your glitzy necklace or sparkly vest/blazer in your everyday wardrobe then simply pair them with a nondescript t-shirt or tee tank. The t-shirt will give you the perfect balance of dressy without looking like you are trying hard.

The artsy tee: The days of the ironic tees are over, thank goodness! Now it is all about the artsy tee. Artsy t-shirts tend to add a slightly mature look to the graphic tee. Generally they have no words, but if so then the type is usually very stylized. Artsy tees have that certain something that can be rocked dressed up or dressed down.

If you need words, use minimalism: We understand that sometimes you simply can not pass up those slogan t-shirts, it is human nature. So ok get that typography tee, but make sure it is short and sweet, and big printed!

Let a neutral t-shirt become a blank canvas for accents: Let your neutral t-shirt blend into your overall looks so that you can really make those accents stand out. Layer on some bold necklaces, wear colorful pants, or intensify your make-up. A solid shirt will not take away from you accents; it will only make them stand out more.

Show your support: It is a strong style statement when someone is brave enough to wear a shirt representing what they believe in. Whether it is cancer awareness, change, or even MS; show your confidence and support by wearing a t-shirt representing what you believe in.

Follow the boys lead: It is ok to take a fashion cue from the boys now and again. Now would be one of those ok times. Take a boys band tee (or just a cool shirt) and team it up with a boys blazer. Now you have a totally fabulous rock look! Don’t forget to add some heels or boots, and a clutch so that it still has a feminine feel.

Have some fun with it: There is a reason the t-shirt has been an essential part of weekend attire. The reason being it is easy, comfortable, colorful, and affordable (most of the time). So go have fun with your t-shirts, experiment with different looks and styles, just be yourself!
