3 Major Kinds Of Cockroaches In The Home
There are 4000 odd species of cockroach in the world. Only three, however, are known to invade our workplaces & homes and cause problems. Some other species of cockroach are similar, but are seen in the home less often than these three. Every cockroach is more or less varied and has its own special features. However they are all pests & can cause great health dangers and damage to us & our families.
Identifying these cockroaches could be the first step in iradication and control. It is pretty simple & can aid in extermination techniques. Here are the 3 major common cockroaches.
American Cockroach
The American cockroach has a reddish brown color and single stripe on the head. It can grow up to 25mm in length. These creatures get easily attracted to liquor and can often be seen in bars or at home in case you had a party and didn’t clean up promptly. They have a life span of up to 1 & half years. Their incubation period is from 6 to 8 weeks.
German Cockroach
The German cockroach sport a brownish or tan color, and two lighter stripes on the back of its head. They can grow up to lengths of 15mm. It is probably breeds the fastest in comparisson to the cockroaches, giving birth to around 30 to 40 nymphs with an incubation period of 30 days. That is relatively fast, seeing one of them can multiply to 30,000 in just a year. These can live for around 6 months.
Oriental Cockroach
The Oriental cockroach is probably the biggest of these 3. It grows approximately 25mm in length. These critters move generally slower than the other species & are a dark brown or black color with a shiny body. They are often called the “waterbug” because they like to live in damp, dark areas. They are most probably seen in damp mulch or cellars. Incubation can last 2 months with about 15 eggs hatching & they can each live for up to two years.
