Organizing your diaper bag for the first time can be overwhelming and confusing. There are so many different types of accessories for your diaper bag that without an article like this who would know where to start. Being prepared is the name of the game. Especially first time parents need the most help on what to expect because they don’t know what to expect.
Let’s begin with the accessory that most diaper bags come with when you purchase them… most diaper bags come equip with a changing pad. The durability and wash ability of the changing pad will vary from bag to bag, however, the overall usage individuals get from this accessory happens frequently and is necessary for those times that an unexpected diaper change is needed in an unexpected place!
Before it’s too late, be sure you have the essential accessories like a portable wipe container and the diapers. You can buy the portable container and refill them instead of having to buy the small packs all the time. This will save time and money in the long run because at 3-4 wipes per stool you will be going through a lot of wipes.
So you have changed the dirty diaper and there is no place to throw it away. What do you do with it now? You need to have a bag to put your dirty diapers in. You can get those for free from diaper companies like pampers or you can buy disposable ones from internet stores. You can also make your own out of fabric. Make sure the inside is waterproof and you have some way to close it. This will avoid those awful embarrassing smells, especially if you are using cloth diapers.
It seems that right after you get the diaper disposed of it is time to eat again. Most formula companies offer convenient single dose packages. These single doses of formula make it so you don’t have to measure anything out in advance. If you don’t have these then you may want to pre-measure your formula. If you are breastfeeding you will want to pump ahead of time and bring your milk cooled in a cooler. Snack companies have made convenient snack packs that make it very easy to store and give snacks to your kids.
Disposable sippy cups and silverware have also popped onto the scene allowing a cup to be left behind without the worry of the high price parents will pay to replace it! Manufactures have begun packaging their baby foods into plastic re-sealable containers making it easier to travel and feed a hungry child. New “Jar Pac” systems are available allowing parents to store a child’s food and silverware in a handy to go zipper pack that is insulated allowing cold food to stay cool and vice versa.
Moving on out of the necessities and into the must haves when at a restaurant, standing in line, in the car, or basically any place you find yourself going where you and your child may have be wait before the next activity. Now I know what you’re thinking, every parent grabs a toy or two when they leave the house. However, manufactures have now made special products especially for diaper bags easing a parents’ pain of waiting. New Chalk Mats are available allowing toddlers and older children a place to draw over and over again with little to no mess. The mat wipes off immediately and is washable. Plus the mat easily folds up allowing for easy storage.
All in all, new accessories make a busy parent’s life a little easier. Overall, organization, preparation, and the process in how we handle our child’s everyday activities have been made a bit easier thanks to baby manufactures and their accessories!
Baby diaper bags are hard enough to organize without having to worry about other things. Daddy diaper bags work well for dads that still want to look trendy even with accessories.
